Young Investigators Award Submission

Introduction

The Emirates Sports Medicine Conference (ESMC) has opened its call for nominations for the 2025 Young Investigators Award (YIA). This award is the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, focusing on growing the fraternity of sports medicine, rehabilitation science and medical sciences towards the betterment of healthcare of the UAE citizens. ESMC will recognize the winner who have made or are currently making extremely significant impact and valuable contributions to research, society, culture, innovation in the fields of sports medicine, rehabilitation science and medical sciences.

The ESMC Young Investigators Awards aim to encourage and reward outstanding research contributions from early-career professionals and students in sports medicine and rehabilitation sciences. The award fosters scientific innovation provides a platform for academic recognition and supports the development of the next generation of leaders in sports medicine across the UAE and beyond.

Eligibility Criteria:

The nominee must be under forty (40) years of age at the time of conference registration.
The nominee must be within six (6) years of completing either a research degree (e.g., PhD, MSc) or medical residency.
The nominee must be a confirmed, fully paid registered delegate of the conference.
The nominee must be the first author of the submitted abstract/presentation and must present at the conference.
The decision of the judging panel is final. No appeals will be entertained.
Each nominee may submit only one application, for either an oral or a poster presentation (not both).
The nominee must complete the Young Investigator Award (YIA) application form and submit the abstract along with their CV via the conference website.
The submitted abstract/presentation must not have previously received a similar award at any other conference.

Key Evaluation Criteria:

Novelty and intellectual merit of the research.
Collaboration with industry partners, where applicable.
Potential impact of the research and the proposed path to achieving this impact.
Qualifications and track record of the Lead Principal Investigator (PI), Co-Investigators, and collaborators.

Verification & Selection:

The final selection of award recipients will be made by a panel of senior researchers and members of the scientific committee. Emphasis will be placed on the potential of the nominee’s research to make a significant impact on the field and practice of sports medicine and rehabilitation sciences. Award recipients will be notified via email.

Submission & Deadlines:

All applications for the ESMC YIA 2025 are to be made online.
Applications for the ESMC YIA 2025 award will open 6 Months prior to the conference and will close 4 weeks prior to the event.

Awarding Ceremony:

The ESMC YIA award ceremony will take place during the closing ceremony which will be on the last day of the conference.
All nominated awardees are requested to be present physically themselves and no nominations of external parties are allowed to collect the award on-behalf. The ESMC Committee reserves the right to withdraw any winner that is not present during the Award ceremony.
